Favorite Sweatshirt.

IMG_1716So I know what you’re probably thinking. You’re probably thinking that this is in no way a “sweatshirt” and if that’s what you’re thinking then i’m here to tell you that you are wrong because this is the closest thing to a sweatshirt i’ll ever wear out during the day. I’m just not one of those girls who can casually wear sweats and Ugg boots to class. Even though I admire those bold ladies, I prefer to put at least some effort into my outfits. Maybe its because I wore a uniform for twelve years but for whatever the reason, I just find that extra push of motivation to do well when I feel good about myself and what i’m wearing. Not that clothes define who you are inside but that’s a whole different story…

Anyways, back to the sweatshirt. I bought this a few years back when I first got a job at Anthropologie and its been put to great use. I love the detailing as well as the comfort (especially for those long nights in the library) and paired with ripped jeans, high-top Converse (not pictured but definitely worn) with a hint of lip stain and let’s just say this has been my most recent go-to outfit with all the madness that comes with being me.

IMG_1719IMG_1739IMG_1749IMG_1754IMG_1770IMG_1772Okay, so I can’t say I’ve never worn a sweatshirt to class but it was Freshman year and finals week. Don’t judge me. Dark times man, dark times.

My Maroon Hat.

IMG_1547So me and this maroon hat have a great love story. I was working at Anthropologie when it caught me eye the moment I stepped onto the floor. For a whole week I contemplated buying it because who needs a maroon, right? Wrong. I needed a maroon hat in my wardrobe. My thought process obviously makes sense. So needless to say, it came home with me one afternoon and we’re living happily ever after.

Mix and Match.

IMG_1365If I could put all of my favorite pieces into one outfit, this is what it would look like. I found this skirt at Urban Outfitters for five dollars (no seriously) and it’s perfectly edgy while still conservative enough for my liking. So basically, its a win-win kind of situation.

On a completely irrelevant note, I’ve decided that i’m going to Africa this year. Not sure about how, when, or why yet. But it’s happening. I’m declaring it. See? Told you it was irrelevant.

Twenty One.

IMG_1508So.. I turned 21 today. Crazy, right? Its amazing to see how God’s been working in my life and after a year of frivolously seeking Him, I am nowhere near where I thought i’d be but oh-so thankful that I am where I am. God is just so good and I can’t wait to see where He’s taking me. A dear friend greeted me happy birthday by saying that this is going to be the “best year yet”. I’m believing and proclaiming that statement. 21 will be my best year yet.

Oh, and here’s a pretty outfit for you to look at. This Anthropologie dress might just be my favorite thing in the world. I feel fierce (i.e. the panthers), classy and fabulous in it and may or may not want to put it on display in my room.
IMG_1432IMG_1426IMG_1445IMG_1446IMG_1447IMG_1454IMG_1492IMG_1468And last but not least…
IMG_1472Apparently I have a thing for black and gold… And animal print.

Hip Moment.

IMG_0777So we all know how preppy I am but let’s be real here, sometimes you just need to step out of your style comfort zone and try something new. Since I love each other these pieces individually, I thought I’d take a leap of faith and wear them all together which I knew would create a whole new look for me. Not sure if i’m ready to fully embrace this new side but its fun to show this side every now and then.

Gold Flakes.

IMG_0736There’s nothing I love more than a good wedding. Typical girl thing to say, right? Well its true. But the glitz and the glam isn’t what I enjoy most (though it helps), its the look on the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the first time, its the moment of pure joy as the newlyweds look upon their closest friends and family for the first time as one, its the most sacred of commitments, a covenant. I’m not one of those girls who has every detail of their wedding planned. I don’t like to view it as my wedding but rather our wedding and by “our” wedding, I mean me and the poor sucker who gets to spend the rest of his life with me.We’ll make decisions together, we’ll plan our wedding together.

So my friends, on a less sentimental note, here’s the ensemble I put together for my cousin’s wedding a few weeks back.

For Your Anthro Lady.

Screen Shot 2013-12-11 at 1.02.34 AMEven before I started working at Anthropologie, I was the biggest Anthro junkie. The stores, the products, the atmosphere, I love it all. The “Anthro Woman” is cultured, creative, unique, and the ultimate hostess. So ladies (and maybe a few gents), here are my top picks for the Anthro woman in your life.

|from left to right|

  1. I’m obsessed (you’re going to hear me say that a lot) with this geometric top. The print and neutral colors complement each other without being too too much. Plus, the fit is perfect on a petite figure (like myself).
  2. I was never a big fan of the “Peter Pan collar” trend but when I saw this pullover, I instantly fell in love (another thing i’ll be saying a lot). It’s the perfect amount of shimmer and prep without being too ivy league.
  3. The only peep-toe heel i’ve ever loved.
  4. Okay guys. I’ve been obsessed with this cookie jar for almost two years. I think its time I finally invest and get it. Yeah? Okay, awesome. Glad we’re all on the same page.
  5. Camouflage is definitely making a come back (or at least in my book). I love these pants (which come in petite sizes as well) for two reasons. One, it adds the perfect amount of edge to any outfit. And two, I went through a really bad camo phase back in junior high (dark times) but now that i’ve got a pretty decent handle on my style, I feel like its time I redeem myself.
  6. My two favorite things: stripes and a pretty day dress. What more could you ask for?
  7. I honestly use the phrase “this is the best day ever” way too much. I justify this by explaining how my days just keep getting better and better as I get older. Such a better way of looking at it, huh? Anyways, I love this bracelet and it needs to get on my wrist ASAP.
  8. Anthro candles are a never fail gift. And with these new holiday editions, I can’t help but want one of each (especially the one that smells like the best Christmas tree ever).
  9. This black and gold motoring watch is so unique and so classy and so practical. Can you tell i’m obsessed?
  10. Since i’ve got my curves, i’ve always steered clear of light wash denim but when I tried on these AG skinny jeans, I was surprised to see that they’re not only flattering but comfortable. A perfect mix for a busy college student like myself.
  11. Talk about a fierce dress. I’ve seen it dressed up with a leather jacket and heels as well as casual with a denim jacket and flats. Either way you wear it, this dress is too pretty not to show off in both the sun and moon light.

Orange Lips.

IMG_0541

A few months ago, I read that orange lipstick was “so last season” (no literally, those were the words). Well, i’m obviously not on that trend because I love the pop of color that comes with an orange lip. So take that fashion world- i’m a rebel (obviously). So if i’m going against the trend, does that make me a hipster?

Nah. I wear too many flats to be a hipster.
